Alright, Let's Go.
Hello and welcome! You've found Liv's 27,000 Days, my travel journal filled with a conglomeration of stories, adventures, and new perspectives. Before I dive into regular blog posts I want to take a moment to share a bit of my backstory. Who am I and why am I doing this?
Let's start with the title of my blog. Why 27,000 days?
The average person, if they are lucky, gets 27,375 days, roughly 78 years to live. That is 78 years of learning, loving, experiencing, creating, failing, and starting over. I fully believe that there is not one singular way in which we should be living our lives, despite what the how-to guides tell us. Life is not that simple. You get to decide how exactly you want to live your life and spend your time here on earth.
How am I spending my 27,375 days? Well, this blog is a way for me to highlight that journey, which leads me to a slightly more superficial note- 27,375 is a bit of a mouthful, hence the title being Liv's 27,000 Days.
Now, let me properly introduce myself- my name is Liv and I am originally from the Chicago suburbs, born and raised. I've spent the majority of my 20s living in various states throughout the United States; Nebraska, North Carolina, and Idaho.
As of August 2025 I am starting a life in Austria, Vienna to be specific. I never planned on moving to Austria and if you knew me a year and a half ago you'd know all about my plans to venture into van life (yes, I fell victim to all of the van life vlogs). However, that plan changed rather quickly when a fateful meeting changed the trajectory of my life, shifting my dreams of living in a van to a European adventure.
That someone turned out to be a random Austrian man I met on a hot springs adventure in Idaho about one and a half years ago... but more on that story later.
From that fateful day, a friendship blossomed which quickly turned into an international long-distance relationship. However, I knew I did not want us to do long-distance forever. And the more I got to know Austrian Man, as my friends and I lovingly call him, the more I wanted a life with him. So, this ultimately led to me making the decision to move to his home.
While major life-altering decisions like these shouldn't be taken lightly, moving abroad was something I'd always considered. I just assumed it would be Spain. Austria was never on my radar... until it was. And honestly, why wouldn't I want to move to a beautiful country to be with the love of my life?
Like so many people who move to a new city, state, or country do, I am starting this blog to document and share my journey with those I love back home. This is my way of letting you join me, although I really wish I could just put all of you in my pocket and take you with me.
So, again, what am I doing with my 27,000 days? This. I am learning to live boldly and freely, while embracing my wrong turns along the way. Choosing to create the life I want, while loving the life I am living. And now, I am navigating a brand new culture, language, and country.
My hope is that this blog serves as a place of reflection for myself and a new perspective, or perhaps inspiration for you.
I imagine that if you are reading this post, you also want to make the most of your 27,000 days in whatever way feels important to you. Or maybe you are here for a few good stories...trust me I have them. Whatever brought you here, I'm happy it did. I hope you sit and stay a while.
First official entry coming soon!
